Experienced Kayakers and Canoeists only.
For those interested this weekend several of us will be kayak camping at Monroe Lake.
You can get to camp via water, or backpack in. We will be kayaking in, and from a distance of 7.5 miles.
Bring all you need with you. I will have a water filter for those who need it and can share a stove. The rest is on you.
Longer boats and experienced paddlers only.

Just had to throw a ball for the dogs, didn't 'cha? :)
I'm leaning toward going.
Just for trying things on for size...what are guys thinking about for a timetable/sequence of events?
Meet at 8am, drive there, kayak, camp, kayak, drive home. Be home by Sunday sometime.
Yeah, copy...request any help with transport to that area from E. Lou.?? I'll pony up for expenses of course.
I have not done cold weather kayaking., What would one wear this time of year?
Okay, I guess I am asking how much and where to get this stuff, to be more specific

Bob this is a good article. Simple and straight forward....
Jim, I am confused on your post. Can you help me understand? I don't totally understand you comment about being around anyone you care about...?
What if I'm not that experienced? I'm not sure if I can hack it. I don't like the cold.
OOh ya, that 5 dollar sticker you can't buy on site yet, and cost 4 bucks to ship from dnr's web site. I am gonna take my chances.
I've never actually purchased one. I just whip out my military ID and play stupid. I'm surprisingly good at it. (Be careful how to respond to this, Nate. It could get ugly for you :)
Paynetown SRA has a full time DNR Naturalist (Jill). You can probably stop in there and get a DNR lake permit.
Just FYI
Dave I was at the Paynetown office 2 weeks ago on Saturday. Jill (DNR Naturalist) was holding a Geocaching Event. That is why you noticed the DNR presence.
Looks like it was a fine time. Good report. Is always nice to see some after action reports/pics...so we too could be there without being able to do it. :)
As of now, the weather looks pretty darn good for this one. Let's hope it stays that way.
